Though she can’t remember her first stories, Kas started telling and writing them as soon as she had the words. Elementary school cemented her love of writing and words because from second grade on the big project each year was to write and illustrate a children’s book. The fifth grade haunted house assignment proved the most fun.

Kas lives in Boston, Massachusetts, where she is a Master of Fine Arts candidate in nonfiction writing at Emerson College and hopes to graduate in 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Colorado State University. In addition to writing nonfiction, she has a deep and abiding love for fantasy and writes in both the urban and epic sub-genres.
At Emerson College, Kas helps out at the graduate student literary magazine as a copyeditor. She has also worked as a copy and line editor both formally as a freelancer and informally for friends and acquaintances.

When she finds the time, Kas paints and draws. Her favorite places to sketch are the numerous parks and historical sites scattered across Boston’s landscape. History fascinates her. Kas spent copious amounts of her six months studying abroad in London at museums and places of historic interest. Ever wondered how cooks prepared food at King Henry VIII’s court? Just ask.
